Day care worker leaves daughter in Dumpster overnight: cops

A Texas mom got so tanked that she climbed into a trash bin with her 7-year-old daughter — and left the little girl to spend the night in the recepticle, authorities say.

Alicia Carroll, 28, was charged with child abandonment, and locked up in the Dallas County Jail with bail set at $25,000, after police untangled the unfathomable chain of events.

It began last weekend when Carroll took her daughter to a Dallas spa, but employees saw that the mother was carrying an open a bottle of liquor and asked her to leave, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The following morning, the girl was found safe in the Dumpster, Dallas police Maj. Rob Sherwin told the newspaper.

NYC gang member gets 12 life sentences after his rap lyrics are used as evidence against him

An accused New York City gang member was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday for a slew of violent crimes, including three murders, after being convicted in a trial in which prosecutors used his graphic rap lyrics against him.

Ronald “Ra Diggs” Herron, 33, was sentenced to 12 terms of life in prison plus 105 years by U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis in Brooklyn, New York.

The sentencing came after a jury in June 2014 found Herron guilty of all 23 charges against him, from racketeering to drug trafficking to gang-related killings between 2001 and 2009.

Wisconsin mom’s Facebook chat preceded deadly crash: charges

A Wisconsin mother was sending messages on her cell phone minutes before a horrific crash killed her daughter and two nieces, authorities said.

Kari Milberg’s phone records show she was carrying on a Facebook chat while driving the little girls and her young son home from a playdate at an indoor playground in December 2013, the Minneapolis Tribune reported, citing court records.

Pierce County prosecutors have now levied three felony counts of driving-related homicide charges against the 34-year-old mother in the tragic crash.

Milberg had lost control of her SUV, spinning into the path of an oncoming box truck.

Nurse who cut fetus from mom-to-be after Craigslist meet held for murder

A Colorado woman appeared in court on Thursday accused of cutting a fetus out of another woman’s womb after luring her with a Craigslist ad, then taking it to a hospital and claiming to have had a miscarriage.

A judge ordered Dynel Catrece Lane, 34, held on a $2 million bond at Boulder County Jail, where she was booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and reckless child abuse resulting in death.

Police responded to a 911 emergency call from the victim on Wednesday at a home in Longmont, 30 miles north of Denver, where they found the woman crying for help after being beaten and stabbed in the torso.

She told them she was pregnant and that an attacker had “removed” her baby. She said she had gone to the house after seeing a Craigslist ad for baby clothes.

2 Officers Are Shot Amid Protests Outside Ferguson Police Station

Two police officers were shot here early Thursday morning as gunfire rang out in front of the police station, throwing into panic what had been a spirited — and at times tense — but largely peaceful night of protests.

Demonstrators and police officers alike hit the ground when the gunshots echoed through the crisp air. Many people ran for cover. The police, clad in riot gear, dragged their wounded fellow officers to safety. Others crouched behind cars and walls, drawing their handguns or rifles as they rapidly swiveled their heads every which way to survey their surroundings.

One officer, from the St. Louis County Police Department, was shot in the shoulder, and the other, from the suburban Webster Groves department, was shot in the face. Both were in serious condition, but their injuries were not life threatening, said Sgt. Brian Schellman, a spokesman for the St. Louis County police.
